There is something better than the “successful” life, or the “wealthy” or “famous” life, and that is the “blessed” life – a life and ministry that is blessed by God Himself. While many people, including many Christians, continue to look to things like money, talent and fame to make them happy, satisfied and successful, we can understand that a flourishing, prosperous life and ministry come from the “blessed” life. How do we obtain this kind of life and ministry?
Blessed is the man…
1. …that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly. Where do you get your counsel?
2. …nor standeth in the way of sinners. What about your convictions?
3. …nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. Who are your companions?
But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
God is telling us that He will bless the person whose counsel is God’s Word, whose convictions are from God’s Word, and whose greatest companion is God’s Word. The blessed life and ministry comes from delighting in the Bible, meditating on it day and night and never, never straying from it. Someone once said, “What we love, we love to think of.”
Imagine a church congregation full of individuals whose hearts have been filled with God’s Word through the week – who are overflowing with the joy and satisfaction of their relationship with the Lord – who are truly living the blessed life – having spent time in the Word of God and ready for their good work and ministry!
